• REZONING REQUEST – PUBLIC MEETING
    6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Public is invited to participate in a Public Meeting set for WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 2025, beginning at 6:00pm.  This meeting will be held at Town Hall Council Chambers.  75 Main Street, 3rd Floor, Souris, PEI.

The Town of Souris has received a request from KC Rentals (Kurt Chaisson, Stacy Chaisson & Craig Jackson) to Rezone PID 774869 (shown on the map provided) from its current zoning of PSI – Public Service Institutional to R3 – Mixed-Density Residential for proposed senior housing development.  This information is available on our website www.sourispei.com or in person at Souris Town Hall, 75 Main Street.

This proposed rezoning would require an amendment of the Town of Souris Zoning Map, Official Plan and Future Land Use Zoning Map.   Therefore, as per Section #18.4 of our Land Use Bylaw, the Town is required to notify property owners that live within a five-hundred-foot (500’) radius of the property in addition to an advertisement for a public hearing at least 7 clear days prior to the date fixed for the public meeting.  A sign will also be posted on the property.   This meeting will give Town Council an opportunity to hear and consider any concerns from the public prior to making their decision.  The applicant will also be invited to the meeting to answer questions.

You can either attend in person (or you can submit your concerns or questions in writing.)  Any written concerns or questions must be received prior to April 22, 2025, at 4:00pm and can be mailed to Town of Souris, PO Box 628, Souris, PEI, C0A 2B0, dropped off to Town Hall at 75 Main Street, or sent by email [email protected]Please address to CAO Shelley LaVie RE: KC Rentals Rezoning Request

    What is Spud Fest?

Spud Fest is a shoestring, DIY, backyard music festival, established in the summer of 2020. This summer will mark Spud Fest’s sixth year! It’s nothing fancy, but it has a ton of heart. The festival is built on a celebration of inclusivity and creativity, and aims to bring together community members of all ages and backgrounds to appreciate art and music.

Just as there are many varieties of potato, Spud aims to program a wide range of music genres that’ll keep the mashes boogying all day and night long. Spud Fest is a completely non-profit event, with all proceeds besides those required for operation costs to be donated to charity.

Proceeds from Spud Fest VI will be donated to Harbourview Training Center – a non-profit organization located in Souris, Prince Edward Island, which provides on site employment and job training as well as a broad range of support services to clients with intellectual disabilities.
