Kim Barlow is an enduring presence in the Canadian indie-folk scene, who launched her acclaimed first album Humminah in Whitehorse in the last century. Recently returned to Nova Scotia, Barlow continues to be a creative and eccentric songwriter, skillful on guitar and clawhammer banjo, with several projects underway at all times.

93 St. Catherines Rd. Souris, PEI

    July 12, 2025

    What is Spud Fest?

Spud Fest is a shoestring, DIY, backyard music festival, established in the summer of 2020. This summer will mark Spud Fest’s sixth year! It’s nothing fancy, but it has a ton of heart. The festival is built on a celebration of inclusivity and creativity, and aims to bring together community members of all ages and backgrounds to appreciate art and music.

Just as there are many varieties of potato, Spud aims to program a wide range of music genres that’ll keep the mashes boogying all day and night long. Spud Fest is a completely non-profit event, with all proceeds besides those required for operation costs to be donated to charity.

Proceeds from Spud Fest VI will be donated to Harbourview Training Center – a non-profit organization located in Souris, Prince Edward Island, which provides on site employment and job training as well as a broad range of support services to clients with intellectual disabilities.
