A message from the Mayor and Council in response to recent social media concerns and comments regarding regional government. 

There is a public meeting planned to discuss the concept of a regional government for our area. You should receive details of this meeting in your mail soon. 

This concept was brought about as part of updates to the Municipal Government Act.

While it was not the Town of Souris that initially initiated these discussions, we want to make it clear that we are fully committed to being part of the conversation to ensure the best interests of our residents are represented. 

As with any potential change, there are both pros and cons that need to be carefully considered.  The first step in this process is to gather the necessary information to make informed decisions. We believe it is essential that all voices are heard, and the potential impact on our community is fully understood.

We encourage all residents to attend this meeting and share their thoughts. Your input is vital to shaping the direction of this discussion and ensuring that any decisions made reflect the values and needs of Souris and our neighbours.
