PUBLIC MEETING FOR TRANSFER OF LAND AND REZONING OF LAND ~ AMENDMENT TO OFFICIAL PLAN REQUIRED.
In accordance with section 143 (1) (2) of the Municipal Government Act. Transfer of Land below market value, and in accordance to bylaw section 21.1 of the Town of Souris Development and Zoning bylaws NOTICE is hereby given of a PUBLIC MEETING to provide residents and/or other interested parties an opportunity to make representation to Planning Advisory Board and Town Council concerning a transfer of municipal owned land.
The land proposed to be transferred by the Town of Souris, shown in the diagram below is made up of 2.96 acres with access to Anniversary Avenue, indicated by PEI Parcel Identification Number 899187, currently owned by the Town of Souris is proposed to be donated to developers David & Wendy McQuaid. They are proposing to build twenty town house units for people in need: ie. veterans, people with disabilities, seniors etc. All units will be accessible with universal design. All units shall be ground floor. The building and it`s heating system shall be energy efficient. All units shall be affordable and accessible. They have a similar building in Montague-143 Fraser Street. The term of the disposition being the Town of Souris will have no further interest in the land once transferred.
ALSO, to be considered at this same meeting is an Application to Rezone the SAME property from it’s current status of (O1) Open Space/Recreational land to (M3) Multiple Family Residential.
This will require an amendment to our official plan.
All are Welcome to make representation respecting the proposed transfer of land and/or rezoning of land in writing or in person to the Town Council at a PUBLIC MEETING scheduled for Monday July 9, 2018 at 6:00pm in the Council Chambers, 3rd Floor, Town Hall, 75 Main Street, Souris.
A copy of the proposed land transfer, property description, the nature of the disposition, value and consideration, is available for inspection at Souris Town Hall, 75 Main Street during regular business hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm. Written submissions should be received by July 6th, 2018.
This meeting is open to all residents of the Town of Souris.
