Emergency Preparedness

ARE YOU PREPARED FOR AN EMERGENCY?
You should have a Plan
Having an emergency plan will save time and make real situations less stressful. It will help everyone know what to do in case of an emergency.
Once you have a plan, make sure you share it with your family or others who can provide assistance. Keep your plan in an easy-to-find place. Make copies to leave in your vehicle, at work or give to a family member.
Make an Emergency Kit (plastic tote) This kit should be personalized to your household. (medical needs, children, pets & seniors)
Basic Emergency Kit:
*Water (min. 2 liters/person/day)
*Food – non-perishable (replace annually)
*Manual can opener
*Radio (crank or battery powered) extra batteries
*Flashlight (crank or battery powered)
*First aid kit
*Extra car/house keys
*Money (bills/change)
*Copy of emergency plan
*Medication, Formula, Equipment for disabilities, Pet supplies, etc
*Corded Phone (cordless don’t work without power)
Note: In the event of a long term power outage the Town of Souris has equipped the Eastern Kings Sportsplex with a back up generator in order to use this facility as a warming center for it’s residents.
