Notice of Nomination Proceedings
PURSUANT TO THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT
NOTICE
Public notice is hereby given to the electors of the TOWN of SOURIS that a Municipal By-Election will be held on MARCH 2, 2020 to elect one Councillor for the TOWN of SOURIS for the term of office ending November 2022. (remainder of existing 4 year term)
The nomination period for the one vacant position on Council commences on February 5, 2020 at 9:00am and closes on February 14, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
Nominations shall only be received during office hours at the election office, located at 75 Main Street, Souris Town Hall, PEI.
The election office hours shall be 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday.
The deadline for correcting elector information shall be no later than 11:59 am on February 18, 2020.

A candidate must file their completed nomination paper at the election office with the Municipal Electoral Officer prior to the deadline of February 14, 2020 at 2:00pm. There is a One Hundred ($100) dollar nomination deposit payable at time of filing. Refundable as per conditions of Elections By-law 2018-1 section 20.3-20.4.
Nomination papers are available at Souris Town Hall, 75 Main Street.
Eligibility for Candidates:
- Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years of age or older
- Ordinarily a resident in the municipality for a period of at least six months before the election
